About Tommy

Tommy was born, raised and educated in the Piedmont section of North Carolina. His photographic experiences began with his first “all” manual 35mm camera he purchased in the late 1970’s. During his college years, he enjoyed landscape and travel photography. His prized possessions from his travels were not articles purchased abroad, but photographs which told the stories of the different lands.

Over time, his “other” professional career as a high school guidance counselor led him to an enjoyment of the more humanistic aspect of photography-weddings. “Weddings are my passion! Each wedding is as unique as the couple’s personalities. My job is to not only creatively capture a most memorable day-the beginning between a newly married husband and wife-but to photojournalistically record the day’s cherished moments unfolding between the couple which truly reveal their feelings for each other.” Tommy sincerely believes that wedding photography is an art form. An art form of both traditional and photojournalistic creativity of the wedding day.

His training has been periodically supplemented by attending numerous seminars and master classes with internationally acclaimed wedding photographers. He is a member in good standing with the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International “WPPI.” He annually attends the WPPI convention and master classes in Las Vegas, Nevada as well as other photographic seminars/conventions in the southeast.

Tammie Dunn (photographer) has been with "Tommy's Photography" for a number of years. Originally born in Lexington, she has traveled to and lived in various states and countries in her lifetime. She returned to Lexington with her daughter, Erica, to complete her college degree at Wake Forest University. As an elective, she took a course in Photography, during which time she realized that she had a real interest in the profession.

Tammie began as an assistant to Tommy who noticed she had a true eye for photographic posing and composition. After training with Tommy for several years, it was a natural progression when she began photographing weddings for "Tommy's Photography."

Presently, Tammie is working as a full-time assistant to Tommy and in addition to photographing weddings and bridal portraiture, she assists in taking care of the daily responsibilities involved in running the photography studio and maintaining the website.

With a shared philosophy of "Excellence in Customer Service," Tommy and Tammie believe that every wedding couple is unique. Based on this belief, they work closely with every couple so that the story that unfolds on the wedding day is truly and completely captured in the bridal couple's images.
